MAKO SUMMER SPLASH – NOVICE & INTERMEDIATE GALA

MAKO Summer Splash Gala – Terms & Conditions

1. Participation & Eligibility

The Summer Splash Gala is open to swimmers aged 3 to 18. Swimmers will compete in mixed age groups as determined by MAKO Aquatics. MAKO Aquatics reserves the right to adjust or combine age groups if required for event flow or safety.

2. Entry at Own Risk

All swimmers participate entirely at their own risk. MAKO Aquatics, its coaches, officials, volunteers, and 3 Rivers Christian Academy accept no liability for any injury, accident, loss, or damage occurring before, during, or after the event. Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring their child is medically fit to participate.

3. Supervision & Safety Requirements

Parents/guardians must supervise their children when they are not actively competing. Swimmers must follow all pool rules, safety instructions, and directions from coaches and officials. Any behaviour deemed unsafe or disruptive may result in removal from the event.

4. Awards & Results

Events will be swum as Timed Finals in a mixed format. Once the event is finished, results will be published by age and category.

Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place swimmers in each boys and girls division. All results are final once announced.

5. Entries, Withdrawals & Refunds

All entries are strictly non-refundable. This includes withdrawals due to illness, injury, personal circumstances, or failure to attend. No credits, transfers, or substitutions will be permitted after entry submission.

MAKO Aquatics reserves the right to postpone, adjust, or cancel the event due to unforeseen circumstances. If cancellation occurs, refunds or credits may be considered at the discretion of MAKO Aquatics.

6. Photography & Media Use

MAKO Aquatics may capture photos or videos during the event for communication, social media, and promotional purposes. Attendance at the event constitutes consent for such use unless a written objection is submitted prior to the gala.

These photos will be available on the MAKO Facebook page.

7. Conduct & Sportsmanship

All swimmers, parents, and spectators must demonstrate respectful behaviour and positive sportsmanship. Misconduct may result in disqualification or removal from the venue.

8. Parking is on the School field and a fee of R10-00 per car will be levied.

9. Spectators are required to purchase tickets. A link will be shared to the Whatsapp group for ticket purchases closer to the time. Tickets will be scanned on the day.

10. Alcohol - No alcohol will be permitted on the school premises. Anyone found in breach of this will be asked to leave.

11. Weapons/Firearms - No weapons/firearms are permitted on school premises.

12. Refunds - No refunds will be issued - In the event of a cancellation by the swimmer, the fees will be forfeited. In the event of the event cancelled by MAKO Aquatics, the entry fees will be carried over to the next scheduled gala.

13. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting an entry and attending the gala, swimmers and parents/guardians acknowledge and accept these Terms & Conditions in full.
